I have been providing service to our fur-ends of Yorkville, Rosedale, Forest Hill and Leaside for many years and more recently the whole of GTA and York-Durham corridor. Our list of clients over the years include some of the who’s who in Canadian and international celebrity- entertainment, sport, business and politics. But don’t be fooled by our impressive list of clientele, Dog-On Vacation Doggie Resort is for all four legged fur-ends regardless of breed, size, age, stature and even fur…. Yeah that’s right I said it, we’ve even had a couple of hairless breeds vacation with us and we love ‘em all!
I started out years ago as a dog walker at a reputable up-scale Toronto dog care company and progressed to doggie home care and training, where I quickly developed a reputation as one of the best in the business. I then went into business for myself, operating one of the first kennel-free/home away from home dog boarding facilities in the city of Toronto. As more kennel-free/home away from home facilities sprung up around the city I realized that city dog’s had a need for a country environment (that was kennel-free/home away from home) as an ideal vacation spot. So I decided to open up a family run dog vacation resort in the country so that city dogs can get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
We sold our house in Toronto and relocated to Beaverton. When we arrived in this small town from the big city, everyone referred to me as “the dog guy” and the moniker stuck. Beaverton is a quaint little country town on the edge of Lake Simcoe, a taste of country life just outside of the city. Here we acquired a large three story Victorian home that is dog friendly, with a large fenced in yard and lots of room for play as well as lounging. Beach, nature trails and open fields just a stone throw away. The only issue I had to tackle was, how to make it convenient for dogs and their human friends to get to the country..??. “I will come to them” I thought, and voila, our famous FREE K-9 Cab Resort Limousine service was born! Since then we’ve had many duplicators (we are flattered of course) but we are proud to say, “Our FREE K-9 Cab Resort Limousine service is still the only service of it’s kind in Canada”.
Since then we have expanded our services to include, spa/grooming on return, advanced/target training/behaviour modification, dog-on tours/walks and dog-on canvas/parchment portraits just to name a few. But of course I couldn’t operate the resort without the help of my wonderful staff and affiliates: My lovely wife Nora- (dog care provider, part time groomer, dog trainer), the matriarch of the family, Myrna “bow wow” Bowers- (dog care provider- specializing in the wee ones, and accomplished dog portrait artist), Doug Hummel of Doug’s Dogs- (the best dog walker in the city of Toronto), Cheryl Wrigley of Wrigley’s Pet Grooming- (one of the top dog groomers in Ontario), Christi Powell of DOGee Spa Rosedale- (award winning celebrity stylist, simply put, “the best”), my three wonderful kids- Travis, Mckayla and Mackenzie- (who are of course very well versed on how to be a great and lovable dog-pack leader) and last but not least, Daisy- (our resident pooch and ever loyal pack member to all her great fur-ends that vacation at the resort and always ready to extend a paw with a wagging tail to our new guests).
